Izzy's Raw Art Gallery was started by local artists Karl Schneider and Cathy Saman in 2002 and is located on the lower and first level of a turn of the century department store. The gallery has openings every other month featuring new artwork by local, national and international artists. Openings include live entertainment by local musicians, poets and performers.
The historic building houses Schneider’s former wife, Cathy Saman and their two children. Lofts on the second and third floor house artists and musicians.
Pilates classes are taught in the first floor gallery every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Classes are taught by Anne Dwyer, Stott Certified Pilates Instructor Trainer and Muscle Activation Trainer. Call 248-752-6825 for pricing and details.
The main gallery in the lower level features a life drawing and painting workshop with a live model (a model fee is asked of those attending) every Saturday from 1:30 until 4:30 pm. The peripatetic classes are conducted by Ray Macdonald who previously taught at Wayne State University, the former Michigan Gallery (now Zeitgeist) and The Scarab Club.
Gallery hours during an opening are from 7 pm to midnight. Admission is $5.
